Invisalign is an excellent way to straighten teeth and correct mild to moderate bite alignment issues. Many of our patients in the Hoboken and Jersey City area prefer Invisalign compared with traditional orthodontics due to its increased comfort and discreet straightening methods that are virtually invisible to others. However, it is important to keep in mind that Invisalign treatment is not for everyone.
This page will discuss the criteria for your candidacy for Invisalign, but the best way to find out if it is the right treatment option for you is to speak with Dr. Frank DePaola in person. Please call 201-792-9400 today to schedule your consultation at our Hoboken office.
Ideal Candidates for Invisalign
In order to be a suitable candidate for Invisalign, you must:
- Be in good oral health with no untreated cavities or gum disease
- Have a fully a fully developed mouth (adults and many teenagers will meet this criteria)
- Not smoke
Having tooth decay or gum disease does not necessarily rule you out as a candidate for Invisalign. However, Dr. DePaola will need to treat these conditions before you can move forward with your procedure.
In addition, Invisalign achieves optimal results with mild to moderate conditions. If you have a severe bite alignment issue, Dr. DePaola may recommend other orthodontic options.
Conditions Treated by Invisalign
Invisalign is very effective at treating the following types of bite alignment conditions:
- Open bite
- Crowded teeth
- Gapped teeth
Hoboken cosmetic dentist Dr. Frank DePaola will fit you with a series of custom-made aligners in order to treat your bite alignment condition. You will wear each aligner for approximately 2 weeks before moving onto the next one in the series. Once your treatment is complete, you will have a straight, functional bite and a beautiful smile.
