When anxiety, fear or discomfort holds you back from scheduling regular dental appointments, your oral health can suffer tremendously. An important means of preventing cavities and other oral health problems is the teeth cleaning and exam that happens during your regular dental visits.

Sedation dentistry can be a good way to overcome your anxiety about going to the dentist.

At The Practice at Maxwell Place, we strive to put your mind at ease by including the following in our practice:

  • Welcoming, caring dentists and staff
  • Comfortable office and amenities
  • Nitrous oxide
  • Oral sedation

One of the most common forms of sedation dentistry is oral sedation, an effective way to alleviate most cases of severe, intense dental phobia. By taking a pill prior to your appointment, you can enjoy greater relaxation throughout the appointment. You will feel sleepy and calm, but you will be able to respond to the dentist. You may continue to feel drowsy shortly after your appointment, and the effect will gradually dissipate during the hours following.

Another option is nitrous oxide, which you breathe in during your appointment. Nitrous oxide is often used for milder cases of dental anxiety.
